General Marking Pencils
I love these pencils - they stay on until you're done and then disappear with a lint brush. I have these in light and dark gray chalk which works for most fabrics.

They look like slivers of hard soap with really sharp edges. (re-sharpen with a knife or sandpaper). Mark your quilt and then remove the marks by ironing. 3 markers per package. #54020 - $4.75

These are full of chalk that is dispensed through a little wheel. Its really easy to use with stencilsbecause you don't have to worry about losing your point. Its great for marking for hand quilting. However the marks don't stay put during the wrestling that occurs when machine quilting so you'll have to mark smaller areas at a time. available in blue and white
