- boring - no pictures - but definitely useful stuff! Note - You still sometimes find solids that bleed - so I recommend pre-washing (try Retayne) or at least testing. Back to Fabric Page
| Solid Black You'd think one black would do - but not so.... there are browny blacks, and purply blacks, and some are darker than others.... and then there's the weave and the texture..... so if you want your blacks to match - make sure you buy enough.... and try to keep track of which brand it was..... I stock..... #CS-ccBlk - Country Cotton - good craft quality $7 per yard. #CS-rfBlk - Natural Charm - from Springs. | Flannelette Good quality double napped flannelette - perfect for backing crib quilts - as well as quilts for big folk who want that soft cuddly feeling and its great for faux chenille and mixing with regular flannels. Those of us who remember the days of cloth diapers know that this stuff wears forever, and makes excellent dust cloths and tea towels. 44" wide. $6.75 Cdn./yd. |

| Muslin | 60 inch muslin to use for backings and backgrounds. Medium/heavy weight - like flour sack material. | ||
| Rangefinder Muslin | 45
inch muslin with an extra finish to give you a crisper
fabric even after prewashing. #CEC - $5.50 Cdn. / yard available
in |
||
| Muslin Backing | A great basic
at a special price! 108" wide Rangefinder bleached (white) or
unbleached, muslin. $13.50 Cdn\yd.) #FabBk-w or #FabBk-n |
||
| 108" wide Black |
Some quilts just need a dark backing.....
Top quality from P&B - #Bck-blk - 108" wide
black backing fabric. - $21 cdn/yd.
you might also want a dark batt |
||
| Dying Muslin | A
medium/light weight muslin with absolutely no finish so
it takes dye well. Its also a nice weight for
backgrounds or backings. 45"
wide. #FDMUS - natural - $6 Cdn./yd Need some dye to go with this? |
||
| Osnaberg | Osnaberg is a
coarsely woven 100% cotton.... you could actually do counted thread
cross stitch on it. It blooms really well when used in making faux
chenille. I like it instead of batting for summer ragtimes - just cut it
the same size as your outer pieces and let it fray. I stock it in black
and white but might be coaxed into other colours if the demand is
there..... #FOSw - white - $7.75 Cdn./yd #FOSb - black - $8.25 Cdn./yd |
||
| Polyspun sheeting |
The easiest way to describe this is kind of
like light weight dryer sheets without the scent. 30" wide - this is
great for making pattern pieces that you want to keep and re-use because
it won't tear. You can baste it and fit it like muslin. It works for
foundation piecing because it doesn't stretch
(but you can't iron it directly- it gets crispy!) - I
love it for crazy quilt and string quilt things because I usually just
finger press those anyway..... #PSS - $1yd
|
||
| Pre-Quilted Muslin |
44" wide poly batting sandwiched between
natural muslin. I use this to make really quick shadow chenille..... Its
a lot easier to do faux chenille when you start with a good base...
#FPQM - $13.75 Cdn./yd
